The incident took place last evening when Kasinder Yadav, a driver by profession, was waiting for his employer not very far from a prominent hotel in Vasant Kunj area, when two youths approached him and pulled out a gun, a police official said.
The duo allegedly pointed the gun at Yadav and asked for the keys, following which they fled with the Toyota Fortuner car, the official said.
He said the incident was reported to the police by the locals who rushed to help Yadav after the accused fled the spot.
"The whole incident reeks of police apathy. The check post which is usually manned by two policemen but did not have any of them present there at the time of the incident," she claimed.
Senior officials of Delhi Police's south district did not respond to phone calls and text messages.
