A man running a consultancy firm here was arrested today for allegedly cheating a person of Rs 11 lakhs after promising to procure a seat to his daughter in the MBBS course in JIPMER last year.
Krishnamoorthy, hailing from Kerala, was arrested on a complaint from Sai Baba, who paid him Rs 11 lakh being part payment of Rs 25 lakhs demanded for the medical seat, police said. The balance was to be given after getting admission.
However, he wound up his consultancy firm and was absconding.
He filed a police complaint after waiting for nearly a year. Police laid a trap and arrested the accused, who was remanded to judicial custody by a court.
