Man held for human trafficking, woman for selling her baby

A 33-year-old man, allegedly involved in human trafficking, and a woman, who sold her daughter to him, were arrested, Delhi police said today.
With the arrest of Deena Nath Tiwari, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi police claimed to have busted a human trafficking racket.
"Tiwari, who is the kingpin of the racket, has been evading arrest after two of his associates Sumit Sharma (28) and Gladwin Messey (26) were arrested on May 1 and a baby girl was recovered from their possession," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav.
During investigation and interrogation of Sharma and Messey, it was found that the recovered baby girl was procured by Tiwari from a locality in North-East Delhi.

Tiwari was arrested on June 5 after Crime Branch received a tip off about his movements, police said.
According to the police, Tiwari said he had procured the recovered baby girl from one Rahisa Khatoon for Rs 75,000. She was paid Rs 25,000 whereas the remaining amount was yet to be paid to her. At the instance of Tiwari, Khatoon, the biological mother of the baby girl, was also arrested.
Police said Khatoon told them that the baby girl was born in February, 2013. As she was facing financial crisis, she sold her daughter to accused Tiwari for Rs 75,000, the police said.
