The victim, identified as Sharmila K Pawar of Jadpoli, was found dead in Shilottar during the early hours yesterday after which a case of accidental death was filed and her body was sent for postmortem, Wada Police Station Inspector Sanjay Hazare said.
Upon receiving the autopsy report, it was found that the victim died of strangulation. Later, IPC section 302 (murder) was also incorporated in the complaint.
After primary investigations, one Sagar Malavkar of Wada taluka was arrested last night for allegedly strangling to death the victim, who was his paramour, the officer said.
They met on Saturday night and the victim once again put forth her marriage demand, which the accused blatantly refused, Hazare said, adding that it led to a tiff between the two and the accused strangulated her throat and later dumped the body in the forest area.
