The accused, a tailor by profession, had been raping his 11-year-old step daughter since 2015, Senior Police Inspector G D Pingle of Chitalsar-Manpada police station told PTI.
The victim's mother had left her first husband in Bihar and remarried the accused. The duo resided in Kapurbawdi locality here with the victim. The accused had also left his first wife, he said.
As per the complaint registered last night, after Holi in 2015, the accused repeatedly raped the victim while she was alone in the house, said the officer.
A case under relevant sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act 2012 was registered and the accused was apprehended, he said, adding investigations were underway.
