A 35-year old man was arrested Wednesday on the charge of sexually assaulting his stepdaughter for the last few months, police said.
The assault came to light after the nine-year old girl narrated the incident to her class teacher who complained to the all-woman police in Pollachi, 40 km from here.
A case was registered and the accused daily wage labourer was arrested, the police said.
He had married the girl's mother two years ago, police said.
The man would abuse the girl whenever she was alone and threaten her of dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone, they added.
