Police said immigration officials detected it while examining the travel documents of Periyasamy of Namachivayapuram in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu.
They said the man already had a passport in the name of Ganeshan of Nagapattinam district.
He was handed over to the local police who arrested him, they said.
