During a routine checking of vehicles, Mohit's car was was stopped for checking.
After initial verification, the police team found Mohit along with four others in the car of suspicious behaviour and all were asked to sit in the police vehicle.
In the police vehicle, a scuffle occurred between Mohit and the police constable Pravesh and a bullet was fired from the gun of the constable which hit Mohit in his head causing serious injury, police said.
One hand of the police constable was also hurt in the firing.
DCP Crime Sukhbir Singh said the vehicle checking was being done at Kheri Pul as the crime branch has got a tip off that thief Zafroo, a resident of village Kheri, is expected to cross the Kheri Pul along with his accomplices in a car.

Zafroo was not found in the checking, however the police team got suspicious on Mohit, being a friend of Zafroo.
