A 47-year-old man involved in 22 cases of theft across the city was arrested from southwest Delhi's Kapashera area, police said on Monday.

The accused, Rajender Kumar is a resident of outer Delhi's Mangolpuri area. He was also declared a 'bad character' by Mangolpuri Police Station, they said.

A trap was laid near a school in Kapashera where Kumar was expected to come.

"The accused came on a bike from Dwarka Link road and was asked to stop. He tried to flee but was apprehended after a brief chase," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Devender Arya.

A loaded country made pistol along with two live cartridges were seized from the accused and six stolen mobile phones and two stolen motorcycles were later recovered at his behest, the officer said.
