The victim, Chandrashekhar Prasad, was electrocuted last evening when he was welding the tank belonging to the Water Works Department in Byapur Tilwari village, they said.
Prasad's son, Chandan and two other persons were injured in the incident and were discharged after first aid, they said.
The body has been sent for postmortem, they added.
