"The incident occurred last night when one Nasir Khan alias Gammu was on his way home, along with his son Waseem, after his release on bail in a criminal case," said SP (East City) O P Tripathi.
The SP said Khan and his supporters were fired upon by members of the rival gang, here following old enmity, when they were passing Azad Nagar area, which was returned by them.
In the exchange of fire, one Javed Khan, who was sipping tea at a stall in the area, was hit by a bullet and died, the SP said, adding that security has been beefed up in the area in the wake of the incident.
