The deceased's kin however alleged that the woman, Rashi and her family plotted the murder of her friend Rinku Kumar, they said.
In a statement to police, Rashi, reportedly the sole witness said, she and her friend Rinku, who worked as a bank cashier, were talking to each other last night near an engineering college when three youths tried to snatch her purse.
When Rinku tried to resist their attempt, he was beaten to death, police said.
