A man was killed and another injured after the motorcycle they were travelling on skidded over a pothole in Sanpada in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, police said.
The incident happened at around 1:30am today on the Thane-Belapur highway.
"Shani Vishwakarma (27) and his friend Kamlesh Jadhav were travelling on a motorcycle when it hit a pothole and skidded. Both of them fell and received serious injuries," said Suraj Padvi, senior inspector, Sanpada police.
He added that the two were rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared Vishwakarma, a resident of Ulwe, dead on arrival.
Jadhav is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, he said.
An accidental death report has been registered and further investigations were underway, the official added.
