Man killed in road mishap, villagers block traffic

Villagers blocked the Ropar-Chandigarh highway at Solkhian after a man was killed in an accident, police said here today.
Residents of Behrampur Zimidara and surrounding villages alleged that the scooterist was killed by a luxury private bus, but police said the cause of the death was an accident between a car and a scooter.
The deceased had been identified as Swarn Singh (40), police said.
Singh was on his way to home after night shift at work when the accident occurred, police said.
Villagers blocked the road seeking adequate compensation for the next of the kin of deceased and booking the bus driver.

While the driver of the bus claimed that the scooterist died due to mishap between car and scooter, the car owner maintained that the accident took place due to the bus which was overtaking his car, police said.
Police had called forensic experts to verify the facts and investigating the matter.
