Kamlesh Kumar killed Sneha, 7, and Anjali, 5, in Bhiti area here, about 310 km from Lucknow, Additional Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar Singh said.
Kumar, whose wife died four years ago, wanted to get married for a second time, but his daughters were reportedly becoming a hurdle, so he decided to eliminate them, police said.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
An FIR was lodged and he was arrested.
