The incident took place in a hutment colony in Pashan area between late last night and early this morning.
Raju Laxman Gaikwad suspected fidelity of his wife Aarati would often fight with her over the issue. The 40-year-old got into an argument with Aarati last night and in a fit of rage hit her with an axe. He then attacked his son Vishal (19) with the same axe, killing him too, police said.
After killing them, Gaikwad hanged himself using a nylon rope that he tied to the ceiling, they said.
