Man, lover commits suicide in temple

A 25-year-old man and his lover allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at a temple in Paschim village here as their families were opposed to their relationship, police said today.
Mohan and Vandana (20), who were in a relationship, left their houses last night and their bodies were recovered from the temple premises this morning, Ataria police station in- charge, Ajay Singh said.
The couple wrote on the temple's walls that they were taking the extreme step as their families were against their relationship, the officer said, adding prima facie they took 'pheras' before consuming poison.
The family of the woman had recently fixed her marriage with someone else.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem, the officer said, adding an investigation is underway.
