Man lynched as son eloped with girl

A 45-year-old was beaten to death by the family of a girl his son had eloped with earlier this month, police said today.
Shakir was abducted and killed yesterday in Rasul village in the district, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Anant Dev said. His body was thrown by his killers and recovered later.
Shakir's son Abdul is said to have fallen in love with Riyasat's daughter and eloped with her on July 3.
A case has been registered against six persons, including the girl's father, under sections 302 (murder) and 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). A search is on for the accused who are absconding, the SSP said.

Security has been tightened in the village as a precautionary measure.
