A person, who was out on bail, has been arrested for allegedly blocking the road, on which the cavalcade of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was to pass, and firing at police, officials said today.
Jagtar Boxer is an accused in several criminal cases and was out of jail on bail a few days ago, police said.
Last evening, Boxer allegedly parked his car on Court Road just minutes before the arrival of cavalcade of the Deputy CM. When asked to remove his vehicle, he allegedly used abusive language and even fired at police personnel, they said.
He was overpowered by policemen and arrested. The firearm was seized and a case under relevant sections of IPC registered against him, police added.
