The victim, identified as Sheje Sangma, was found with head injuries by some locals of Rongmuthu area, they said.
"We are looking at all the angles. It seems that he was murdered yesterday but post-mortem reports would provide more clarity," District SP Vivekananda Singh said, adding the weapon used for murder has also been recovered.
A case has been registered and investigation is underway, the SP said.
