Rabi Narayan Panda, Kendrapara Chief Judicial Magistrate pronounced the jail term for Banamali Mallick yesterday after finding him guilty and convicting him under sections 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 323 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of Indian Penal Code.
Mallick, who is an inhabitant of Dalabada village, had attacked villager Ashok Mallick on February 7, 2004.
Four others, who were facing trial in the case, were acquitted by the court for lack of evidence.
