Man sentenced to life term for murder

A local court here sentenced a 50-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering a woman.
Additional District Sessions Judge Om Vir Singh yesterday held Islam guilty under Section 302 (murder) of IPC for gunning down a 35-year-old woman at her residence in 2007.
A fine of Rs 80,000 was also imposed on him.
Prosecution counsel Anjum Khan said Savita was shot dead by Islam at her residence in Shamli district's Banti Khera village on April 29, 2007. Islam is lodged in jail since then for the murder.
