Police received a PCR call about a shooting in the area around 8 PM on Monday. On reaching the spot they found Vijay Verma lying in a pool of blood and his sister-in-law alleged that he was shot thrice by Ketan Yadav, said Surender Kumar, DCP (southwest).
Verma is in a serious condition and under treatment. The accused has been arrested from the outskirts of Paprawat village yesterday. The licenced revolver used in the crime and 33 live cartridges were seized from him, the officer said.
During interrogation Ketan confessed that he suspected Verma, his childhood friend, of having intimacy with his wife which led to strained relations and finally divorce in 2014, Kumar said.
After divorce he married again but developed a grudge against Verma and his first wife. He also wanted to settle score with his first wife but was arrested before that, the officer said.
