According to SP City Ombir Singh, Wajid Ali was shot dead last night in Sarvat area when he was on his way home. Police rushed to the spot and a search for the assailants was underway.
Meanwhile, as news of the killing spread, locals started a demonstration with the body of the victim demanding the murderers be booked.
The situation was later defused and the body was sent for postmortem, police said.
