The incident was reported at 2.30 AM.
Akash (20) received three bullet injuries to his head and body, the police said, adding that he was found lying in a pool of blood by his friends who rushed him to a hospital where he was declared as brought dead.
Police are probing whether he was shot dead because of any personal enmity.
Akash had been living with his maternal uncle for the last eight years. After his parents' demise a few years back, he had been brought up by his uncle. His grandmother and other family members are staying in Aligarh.
When he did not return for a long time, his friends went to look for him and found him injured, they said.
Police have found a CCTV footage and are trying to identify the accused.
