A 35-year-old man was today stabbed to death allegedly by his wife and her brother-in-law in Usmanpur area of east Delhi.
The 30-year-old accused woman has been detained while the brother-in-law, with whom she was allegedly having an affair with, is on the run, police said.
The incident came to light early morning when neighbours of the victim, identified as Dilip, were drawn to his house by wails of his wife Shanti. The house's door was locked and there was no response when neighbours called out, police said.
Police reached the spot on getting information and broke open the locked door and found Dilip lying in a pool of blood and Shanti sitting near him weeping. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Shanti initially claimed that Dilip was seriously injured after falling from stairs and died due to his injuries, police said.
The cops however suspected her version as the victim's body bore external injury marks. Deep wounds were noticed on his chest and head indicating some weapon was used, a police officer said.
Through further investigation police learnt that the couple had been having quarrels for nearly two years over the stay of Shanti's brother-in-law (jija) Satender at their house.
Dilip had suspected that Shanti was having an affair with Satender, the officer said, adding, he has been absconding since the incident.
Investigators also found that Dilip and Satender consumed liquor yesterday night and had a fight after it.
Shanti has kept mum over the matter while the police is yet to recover the said weapon. A case of murder has been registered and investigation is continuing, the officer said.
