Man, three sons get life term for murder

A man and his three sons were sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life by a court in Mayurbhanj district here for killing a villager over a land dispute two years ago.
Additional Sessions Judge, Rairangpur, Bijay Kumar Jena, while pronouncing the life term yesterday, also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on the convicts for committing the crime on July 10, 2015.
The four would have to undergo an additional jail term for six months in the event of failure to pay, he said.
According to the prosecution, Purna Mohanta (50) and his three sons Bhagaban (26), Harish (24) and Bhairav (23) had attacked Anama Mohanta of Satapautia village under the Badampahar police station limits with sharp weapons over a land dispute.

After Mohanta died in the attack, the four had dumped his body in a nearby canal.
