The accused, identified as Rohit Kumar alias Baba, a native of UP's Baghpat, was the active member of a UP-based gang headed by one Prince, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.
Baba allegedly committed as many as four murders, two highway robberies and had fired at a police team in one case, following which he escaped, in a 10-days' span in December-January, said police.
"During interrogation, Baba admitted that he had murdered gang leader Prince in Ramala area to take charge of the gang on January 6 and also confessed to the other charges against him," Yadav said.
