An Afghan national was today nabbed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here for allegedly smuggling gold by hiding it in his sandals.
Feda Raihan arrived at the airport from Kabul this afternoon and his suspicious activities led to his interception by CISF sleuths deployed in plain clothes in the terminal area, a senior airport security officer said.
"On frisking, 150 gms of gold was recovered from the passenger's sandals. He had not declared the gold and it was brought in illegally," the official said.
He has been handed over to Customs authorities, the official said.
