Management declares work suspension in 2 tea gardens

The management declared suspension of work in two tea gardens in Alipurduar district in the run up to the Durga puja festival.
The suspension work in Makrapara Tea Estate on Friday would render 1800 employees jobless, district officials said.
Meanwhile the management of Binodbihari tea garden in the Dooars belt also this morning put up suspension of work notice this morning following midnight long workers' agitation.
In both cases, the decision was preceded by workers' demand for puja bonus and demonstration.
Tea garden unions blamed the management.
