Manipur's Titular King Joins Movement Demanding Meitei In S T

Titular King of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba joined the relay hunger strike yesterday demanding inclusion of Meitei community in the list of Scheduled Tribe (ST) of India.
Addressing crowd at the public ground of Wangkhei Angom Leikai in Manipur's Imphal East district yesterday evening where he took part in relay hunger strike, Sanajaoba stressed the need to protect 8 percent of Manipur's geographical area in the valley-inhabited by Meitei community, a press release issued today by ST Demand Committee, Manipur, said.
At present, 92 percent of Manipur's land located in hill area have already been protected as scheduled tribe inhabited area under the Constitution.

The whole Manipur should be protected equally under the constitution by putting Meitei community in the list of scheduled tribe of India, the release demanded listing the charter for it's relay fast movement.
