Former Uttar Pradesh minister Manpal Singh Verma Friday resigned from the Samajwadi Party after he was denied a ticket from the Etah Lok Sabha seat.
Verma, who was in the list of the Samajwadi Party's star campaigners, accused the party leadership of humiliating him. He announced his resignation from the party at a press conference.
He, however, refused to divulge details on his future course of action.
SP candidate Devendra Singh Yadav will fight against Rajvir Singh, son of Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh, from the Etah Lok Sabha constituency.
Etah will head for voting in the third pase on April 23.
