Jayaram (27), while planting the explosive on the route used by the securitymen, was killed as the device went off on Sunday, SP (Koraput) Charan Singh Meena said quoting a report.
According to police, he was a resident of Chhattisgarh and serving in the armed squad of 'Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee' of the rebels.
"The Maoist was in our wanted list for his involvement in several offensives in the area. Earlier, he had made several unsuccessful attempts to kill security forces in Narayanpatna and Pottangi of the district," the SP said.
