His father Rajeswer Pandey performed the last rites in Dhanbad district.
Besides Army officials, State Minister Amar Bauri, Dhanbad MP Pashupati Nath Singh, MLAs of the region, senior administrative and police officials were present also present to pay tributes.
Pandey was killed in an ambush by terrorists in Phulwama area of Srinagar on Saturday. He was a resident of Jharia in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand.
Earlier, his body was flown to Dhanbad by Army chopper from Ranchi at 11:00 AM. It was brought to Jharia in a procession and at different points people paid their tributes to him.
"The amount was nothing compared to the sacrifice of the soldier for the country," an official release quoted the Chief Minister as saying.
