Masoor, its dal plunge up to Rs 500 a quintal on muted demand

In restricted activity, masoor and its dal prices fell by up to Rs 500 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today owing to slackened demand from retailers at prevailing levels against sufficient stocks.
However, other pulses moved in a narrow range on little doing and pegged around previous levels.
Traders said subdued demand from retailers at current levels against adequate stocks on higher supplies in the market, mainly kept pressure on masoor and its dal prices.
Masoor small and bold traded sharply lower at Rs 5,000-5,600 and Rs 5,050-5,650 against last close of Rs 5,100-6,100 and Rs 5,150-6,150 per quintal respectively. Its dal local and best quality followed suit and enquired lower by Rs 250 each to Rs 6,000-6,500 and Rs 6,100-6,600 per quintal, respectively.
