The brother of SP city Mukul Dwivedi, who was killed during clashes between police and encroachers here, today said he never demanded action against the DM and SSP of Mathura for the death of his brother.
"The story regarding demand for action against then DM and SSP of Mathura is concocted. I had not given any such interview to the media yesterday or the day before," said Prafulla Dwivedi, who is based in Dubai and has come here following his brother's death.
Dwivedi clarified that he has only been demanding an impartial probe by the highest body as he does not want a repeat of the incident.
"I have been demanding a free, fair and independent inquiry by the highest body of the country into the June 2 incident in which my brother was brutally murdered.
"The lapses should also be looked into so that the guilty are brought to book," said Dwivedi.
Clashes between police and encroachers left 29 people dead, including the SP and an SHO, at Jawahar Bagh here.
Four days after the incident, the Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh transferred Mathura DM Rajesh Kumar and SSP Rakesh Kumar Singh.
