Family members of the two traders, who were killed in the sensational dacoity-cum-murder case here, today staged a dharna blaming the police of "inaction" even as a police inspector was suspended over the incident.
The bereaved family members, who were enraged over the police "inaction" as the case could not be solved even after 60 hours of the incident, staged a dharna for around eight hours in Holi Gate area here.
SSP Vinod Kumar Mishra has said that a police inspector posted with the Kotwali police station, identified as one Surendra Pal Singh Yadav, has been suspended for dereliction of duties.
The protestors also gave a two-day ultimatum to the police officials to solve the case.
The traders were killed and three were injured in daring dacoity committed in Koyalawali Gali falling under Kotwali police station on Monday.
Politicians also threw their support behind the families.
UPCC President Raj Babbar condoled the death of the traders and visited their families.
He also visited the shop where the incident took place.
Congressmen, led by the former Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Pradeep Mathur and former Chairman of the Municipal board of Mathura Shyam Sundar Upadhyaya joined the protest as the family members sat on the dharna.
However, the dharna was lifted on the request of SP (city) Ashok Kumar after he demanded more time to work out the case.
The family members then agreed to the demand and gave a two-day time limit to the SP.
Sub-inspector Prateek Kumar, in-charge police out post Holi Gate, along with two constables were suspended on Tuesday in the incident.
"The Sarrafa Bazar in entire UP would observe a strike tomorrow", Gaur Saran Sarraf, the state vice-president of Sarrafa Association said.
