Maximum below normal, high humidity troubles Punjab, Haryana

The maximum temperature in the states of Punjab and Haryana today settled below normal levels although high humidity in air ensured that people had a sweaty day to contend with.
The Union Territory of Chandigarh recorded 43.5mm rainfall and saw its maximum settling at 34.3 degrees Celsius, down one degree, MeT officials said here.
In Punjab, Ludhiana received 2mm rainfall and recorded a maximum of 34.4 degrees while Patiala and Amritsar saw the mercury settle at 36.2 and 35.6 degrees, respectively.
In Haryana, the maximum in Ambala was at 35.3 degrees. Hisar and Narnaul recorded highs of 36.2 and 35.2 degrees, respectively.
Humidity in the air was between 80 to 90 per cent in the region.
The forecast is for light to moderate rainfall at isolated placed in Punjab and Haryana in the coming 24 hours.
