An MDMK worker who set himself ablaze here last week in protest against the proposed Neutrino project at nearby Theni district, succumbed to burn injuries at a hospital today, police said.
The incident occurred on March 31 shortly before party leader Vaiko was to start his 10-day "Padayatra" to create awareness on the 'impact' of the India based Neutrino Observatory (INO) project on farm lands at Ambarappar Hill area in Theni district.
The padayatra was inaugurated by DMK working president M K Stalin on Saturday.
Ravi,the party cadre,set himself on fire near the dais where Vaiko was addressing the gathering.
He was rushed to a private hospital with severe burn injuries and died today without responding to treatment
