"If the media keeps playing a bad track 500 times a day for financial reason, obviously the common listener will only end up listening to such kind of music," Sanu told PTI in an obvious reference to FM channels and the electronic media.
"The media has the role to help in shaping up the taste of the audience. This can't be attributed to the change in audience profile. The audience will always be receptive to good music if they are provided that," Sanu said.
To a question if proliferation of online sites and decline of audio cassettes has resulted in the dip in standard of good music, Sanu said, "evolving new medium cannot be linked with the dearth of good music. The cause of good quality music can instead be served only if media put good contents in the net."
The Bengali audio cd 'Jhiri Jhiri Bristi', which contains eight songs, has lyrical effects targeted at all age groups, said Sanu.
To a question Sanu said, he was facing financial problem to open his music school in West Bengal.
"While such a school of mine in Delhi has 75 children, I am not yet able to start my school in Kolkata as I am not able to raise funds. My fan club members are not moneyed businessmen," he said.
The singer is opening a restaurant in the city soon and it will be themed on his music career.
