The body of the 19-year-old girl was found last night and a note recovered from her room by the police last night indicated ragging being the reason behind the death.
The girl's parents suspected foul play, as there were multiple narratives given to them by college management and others.
"Initially, we were told that my daughter was not well, then they said she consumed poison. Later in the night they said she hung herself from the ceiling, but we saw her duppatta hanging from the window. I doubt whether this is a suicide or something else," the victim's father Kamalakannan told reporters.
Police said they were enquiring into the incident, adding, no arrest was made so far.
