the Rajarhat area in the eastern fringes of the city today, fire department officers said.
Fire was first spotted on the first floor of the two-storey godown close to Derozio College and local residents immediately alerted the fire department, said an officer.
"The godown is spread over an area 9,000 sq ft and medicines and chemicals were stored in the facility. Ten fire tenders have been pressed into dousing the flames," said the fire department officer.
The reason behind the fire and the extent of damage would be done once the fire was brought under control, the officer added.
