Medium sugar spurts on rising demand

Medium sugar prices spurted at the Vashi wholesale market today on rising demand from stockist and retailers amid ensuing festive season.
Elsewhere, small sugar also gained due to good offtake from stockists and bulk consumers.
Medium sugar (M-30) climbed by Rs 24 per quintal to Rs 3,686/3,902 from Thursday's close Rs 3,662/3,902.
Small sugar (S-30) edged up by Rs 2 per quintal to Rs 3,582/3,762 as compared Rs 3,582/3,760 yesterday.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,582/3,762 (Rs 3,582/3,760)
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,686/3,902 (Rs 3,662/3,902).
