Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today directed for strict vigil on vital installations, including airports, bus stands and crowded places, in the aftermath of a terror attack on the Sunjwan Army camp here.
Two Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) were killed while a Colonel rank officer and daughter of an Army personnel were among four people injured as militants attacked the camp in Jammu city early today.
Mebhooba passed the direction at a high-level security review meeting and appealed all sections of the society to stand in unison against the designs of terrorists.
She was briefed by General Officer Commanding in Chief (Northern Command) Lt Gen. Devraj Anbu about the Sunjwan attack and the ongoing operation to flush out the attackers there, an official spokesman said.
The chief minister, while condemning the attack, described the incident as an effort by elements inimical to peace to disrupt the pace of development in the state.
Mehbooba paid tributes to the slain Army personnel, praised their valour and sympathised with the bereaved families, the spokesperson said, adding that the chief minister wished the injured soldiers a speedy recovery.
She took stock of the overall security situation in the state and along the borders, he said.
The chief minister directed the police and other security agencies to maintain vigil in the state and ensure no subversive element was allowed to disturb peace, the official added.
