Members of two communities clashed when a wedding procession was passing through in a village here, police said today.
Last night, the wedding procession of Ajai, a Dalit, was passing through in Salempur village when Don, the son of a former village chief, who was riding a motorcycle, asked that he be given passage on the road, they said.
This led to an argument and Don, a Thakur, was beaten by the members of the wedding party, SHO Inspector Azadpal Singh.
Don then called up his family members and acquaintances who attacked the procession. They fled before the police reached the spot, he said.
The SHO said a hunt was on for Don and his dozen associates.
The wedding of Ajai later was solemnised in police presence, he said.
