Accused Narendra Luther, working as a coach in the private institution for mentally challenged children, allegedly sexually assaulted the girl during the first week of December when the Asia-Pacific Regional Games-2013 were held in Newcastle in Australia, they said, based on a complaint lodged by the victim's mother.
"The victim along with others (mentally challenged children of the private institute) participated in the sporting event in Australia, where Luther allegedly sexually assaulted her," a police officer attached to Dharmavaram sub-division told PTI over phone.
Special Olympic Games for sportsperson with intellectual disabilities was held at Newcastle in December 2013.
