The searing heat wave conditions remained unabated in Odisha as the mercury jumped above 40 degree Celsius in at least 13 places on Monday.
As the entire state continued to boil under sizzling temperature, Jharsuguda turned out to be the hottest place in Odisha recording 44.6 degree Celsius, the Meteorological Centre here said.
Closely following Jharsuguda was Titlagarh where the mercury stood at 44.5 degree Celsius, while the maximum temperature was 43.7 degree in Angul, 43.6 degree in Talcher, 43.2 degree in Sonepur and 43 degree in Sambalpur, it said.
Hirakud recorded 42.1 degree Celsius, while the mercury touched 42 degree in Bhawanipatna, Balangir and Malkangiri, 41 degree in Keonjhar, 40.5 degree in Sundargarh and 40.4 degree in Chandbali, the MeT centre said.
The maximum temperature in state capital Bhubaneswar was 38.7 degree Celsius, while the mercury touched 39.4 degree Celsius in neighbouring Cuttack city.
The met centre had already issued heat wave warning on Saturday for nine districts for a few days. The districts which are likely to be affected are: Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Malkangiri, Bargarh, Sonepur, Nuapada and Boudh.
