Parts of Himachal Pradesh, including its capital Shimla, witnessed severe thunder squall followed by heavy rains and hailstorm causing a dip in maximum temperatures in the state.
Rains and hailstorm disrupted power supply and reduced visibility, forcing vehicles to move at snail's pace causing traffic jam.
Shimla received 23.5 mm rains in an hour, while Una and Bajaura received 9 mm rains each, followed by 8.7 mm in Bhuntar and 3.4 mm in Sundernagar.
Day temperatures dropped by a few notches after rains and storm and with Una recording a high of 34.4 degrees Celsius.
Nahan was hottest in the state with a maximum temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius while Sundernagar recorded a high of 32.2 degrees Celsius.
The local MeT office has warned of thunder squall and hailstorm at isolated places in mid and lower hills tomorrow also.
