Mercury soars in national capital

The city woke up to a hot morning today with cloudy skies even as the minimum temperature soared to 26 degrees Celsius by 8.30 AM, four notches above season's average.
The Met office said the skies will be partly cloudy through the day with the maximum temperature expected to settle around 40 degrees Celsius.
There was dust and haze in the early morning hours, a weather official said. Humidity was 53 per cent at 8.30 AM.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40.2 degrees Celsius while the minimum settled at 28.5 degrees.
