Metro Railway services were affected for around 10 minutes owing to abnormal sounds heard by the driver of a Dumdum-bound A/C rake at Chandni Chowk station in central Kolkata, Metro Rail sources said.
"There was a 10-minute detention of a Dumdum-bound train from 5.40 pm at Chandni Chowk due to abnormal sound felt by the driver," Metro Railway spokesman R N Mahapatra said.
"The driver immediately informed the control, which in turn informed emergency services like the fire brigade, as precautionary measure," Mahapatra said.
After checking, clearance was given and the train left for Dumdum at 5.50 pm, he said.
Fire Brigade sources said that one engine was sent to Chandni Chowk station.
